Phil Healy Chicago
Senior Analyst, Renewable Energy
Phil Healy of Chicago is a senior financial analyst with experience spanning tax consulting, fund finance, and international operations. His professional background includes work with major firms in Chicago, and his skill set covers state tax compliance, private equity fund accounting, and global finance functions. With multilingual fluency and a strong academic foundation, he continues to apply a thoughtful and detail-oriented approach to the financial services industry.
Educational Background in Accounting and Language
Phil earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame, where he also completed a second major in French. His language proficiency reflects his upbringing in a bilingual household with a Brazilian mother and an American father. Fluent in English, French, and Portuguese, Phil developed strong communication skills from an early age.
While in college, he participated in several student organizations, including Notre Dame’s student radio station WVFI and the university’s squash club. He also volunteered regularly at the Boys and Girls Club of St. Joseph County, where he combined academics with service and leadership.
Phil went on to pursue a Master of Accountancy at Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, concentrating in Tax Services. This graduate program helped sharpen his technical knowledge in tax law and compliance, preparing him for the complex responsibilities he would take on in his career.
Early Career in Multistate Tax Services
Phil began his professional journey in 2019 as a tax consultant with Deloitte Tax LLP in Chicago. He joined the multistate tax services team, where he reviewed state tax returns for partnerships and corporations. His role also involved preparing investor tax packages, analyzing estimated payments, and handling composite filings.
In early 2021, Phil was promoted to Senior Tax Consultant. In this capacity, he conducted more in-depth technical reviews, supervised junior staff, and managed tax engagement workflows. He regularly coordinated with Deloitte’s tax preparation teams, as well as client-side controllers, to ensure accuracy and consistency across all deliverables.
Phil’s time at Deloitte provided him with a firm foundation in multistate tax legislation, research, and client advisory services. His work supported strategic decision-making related to restructuring, compliance, and due diligence.
Transition to Fund Finance at GCM Grosvenor
In 2021, Phil took on the role of fund finance analyst at GCM Grosvenor, a private equity investment firm headquartered in Chicago. His responsibilities included maintaining accounting ledgers for various private equity funds and investment vehicles, as well as reviewing quarterly financial statements.
He also played a key role in reconciling daily and quarterly cash activity, capital calls, and distribution schedules. Phil reviewed expense accruals, quarter-end receivables and payables, and foreign currency translation adjustments.
His role required coordination with several internal departments, including treasury, legal, and client services. He also worked closely with third-party accounting partners to ensure smooth operations. Phil supported financial reporting for co-investment partners and helped strengthen fund-level accuracy and transparency across multiple investment platforms.
Expanding into International Financial Operations
In early 2023, Phil advanced into a senior analyst role at Invenergy LLC, where he specialized in international finance operations for renewable energy projects. At Invenergy, he managed global financial workflows, built cash flow forecasts, and developed project budgets for international offices.
Phil Healy of Chicago collaborated with both U.S.-based and international business units to track financial variances and update forecast models. He also helped coordinate the financial side of deal structures, including acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
His duties included managing internal financial transactions, such as capitalizations, intercompany loans, dividend payments, and expense allocations. He also worked on bank account reconciliations and expense reporting tied to cross-border projects.
Toward the latter part of his role, he began using the Bloomberg Terminal to gather data for interest rate benchmarks on both intercompany and external loans. Phil’s time at Invenergy provided valuable experience in global financial alignment, strategic forecasting, and cross-team collaboration.
Commitment to Volunteerism in Chicago
Outside of work, Phil has consistently engaged in volunteer efforts across Chicago and beyond. His service began in high school at Gilda’s Club of Chicago, where he supported individuals and families impacted by cancer. During college, he continued volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club in Indiana.
Instead of a summer internship, Phil chose to volunteer at the L’Arche Center in Forest Park, Illinois, working with intellectually disabled adults. This experience further shaped his approach to empathy and community service.
Later, he supported Brave Space Alliance, a Black trans-led LGBTQ+ center on Chicago’s South Side. The organization focuses on affirming, community-based care for marginalized populations, aligning with Phil’s values around inclusion and civic responsibility.
Personal Interests and Life Outside Finance
Phil is a dedicated supporter of Chicago’s major sports teams—the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. He also follows the Brazilian national soccer team, a connection to his family heritage.
He has played the piano since childhood and began producing music at home during his high school years. More recently, he started learning guitar, adding to his creative pursuits. Phil is also a cat lover and currently cares for two cats, who are an essential part of his personal life.
Phil Healy of Chicago brings together expertise in tax, fund finance, and international operations. His career reflects a consistent focus on accuracy, communication, and adaptability. Combined with his commitment to volunteerism and personal growth, he continues to build a reputation as a thoughtful and reliable financial professional based in Chicago.
